MCU Update March 2021 |The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney Plus

We don't think it's unreasonable to say that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is one of the most exciting Disney Plus shows coming up. Not only is it exciting, but we actually know enough about it now for the hype to really start building, and that even includes a release date.

As is the case with every show that went through production last year, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier went through a fair few rough patches in 2020. While things were going smoothly for a while, production had to be halted during the height of COVID last year but resumed in September 2020. Things finished off in October with the last bits of filming taking place in the Czech Republic.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is set after the events of Avengers: Endgame and continues the story of the universe. Rather than a gigantic ensemble cast, it sees Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) teaming up to try and live up to the legacy left behind by Captain America.

Below, you'll find everything you need to know about The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, with details about the cast, release date, new trailer and more.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier release date: 2021
We've got very good news for those desperate to jump into this series all about bird boy and his emo friend, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier releases on Disney+ on March 19th, 2021.

It was actually meant to release earlier than this, but Wandavision came along first and we'll be waiting until it's finished releasing to see this six-episode series come out.

As with Wandavision, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will be releasing weekly. While this is still a little odd to deal with in the modern era of binge-watching a twenty-four episode show in one day, it's kind of nice to take your time with a series and have a week to talk to your cats about all of the goings-on.

It also means we'll be subjected to interviews regarding teasers for the upcoming episodes, a cliffhanger each week, and probably some fancy cameos that end up being rather vanilla. We're excited nevertheless though, and it means that the series will take us into May.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, as the name suggests, brings Sam and Bucky back together again for a story set in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame.

There's no official synopsis for the series, but after Disney dropped the teaser above, Marvel called it a 'global adventure that tests their abilities – and their patience'. It will feature the return of the villain Helmut Zemo, last seen in Captain America: Civil War, and this time wearing his mask from the comics.

You just know Bucky will want revenge after the events of that movie. In Civil War, Zemo controlled Bucky's mind with a series of trigger words, and caused a sequence of events that almost led to the Winter Soldier's death at the hands of Tony Stark.

We know Sam won't be Captain America yet in this series, even though we've seen him practicing with the shield in the teaser trailer. Indeed, in the Disney Plus special Expanding the Universe, we actually see a brief shot of his new costume, which is somewhat in line with the classic Falcon look from the comics.
